Arthur he grew up around the Dallas area, graduated high school in
Carrollton, TX and played football for Texas A&M
for two years. He joined the United States Marine Corps. in
1947, to serve his country and support his family. Arthur honorably served his
country, spending over twenty years in military, which involved wartime tours
of duty in both Korea and Vietnam.
Following his U.S. Marine Corps. service from 1947
until 1956, Arthur continued his active duty service with the U.S. Air Force,

encouraged his outdoor pursuits; his passion for the challenges of nature was
unquenchable and she was happiest when he was happiest.
Four years after Lillian's passing, Arthur came home to Texas to be
with his daughter, Artice in Elgin, TX. There they owned a small ranch, where
he enjoyed his remaining years watching his daughter train horses and riders.

Shirley Thomasine Cupit entered into eternal salvation surrounded
by her family on July 15, 2011 at WNJ- Texas Health Resources. Our mother,
known to most as Thomasine, was born on June 13, 1928 in Cannon, Texas to the
parents of Mose and May Dicken Rigsby.
Mama, as she was affectionately called by her children, resided in
Van Alstyne or the immediate surrounding area her entire life. She attended Van
Alstyne Public Schools and married our father Grover K. Cupit on March 8, 1947.
She spent a major portion of her working career employed as a seamstress at
Double B Manufacturing Co. in Van Alstyne. Even though her wages were small,
she always made sure her kids had spending money. She loved garage sales, word
search puzzles, and spending time with her grandchildren and great-
grandchildren. She loved her family with all her heart and was always there
with a big hug and a word of encouragement. She was a member of the Elmont
Baptist Church.

, August 29, 2010
Ruby Jo Blankenship Warren, 97, passed away Aug. 26, 2010, at home in Greenville in Hunt
County. Mrs. Warren was born in Celeste, Hunt County, Sept. 29, 1912, to the
late E. Harley and Hattie Johnson Blankenship.
Her parents moved from Lebanon, Tenn., to Hunt County in 1906. Mrs.
Warren was graduated from Celeste High School in 1935. She was on the girls’
basketball team and remained active in the Celeste school system throughout her
life. She wed Lemuel Raymond “Lem” Warren on April 11, 1935, at Munger Church
in Dallas; and they had four children, Jerry Ray, Harley Joe, Don Jackie and
Sarah Catherine. She stated on many occasions her longevity is explained
by her active lifestyle and her dedication to her four children, seven
grandchildren, many great-grandchildren and great friends. Mrs. Warren was the
oldest living member of First Baptist Church of Celeste and the oldest living
person raised in Celeste. She was a homemaker and
wrote for the Celeste Courier and the Greenville Banner. She was an active
member in the Celeste Thursday Club (50 years) and the Celeste Coffee Club (20
years). She was a longtime political activist.
Mrs. Warren was preceded in death by her parents, Hattie Johnson Blankenship in 1953 and E. Harley Blankenship in 1975; her husband, Lemuel Raymond “Lem”
Warren in 1977; her sister, Irene Blankenship in
1911; her son, Jerry Warren in 1987; and her grandson, Bradley Todd Warren in
1981.
She is survived by sons Harley Joe Warren of Naples, Fla., and Don
Jackie Warren and wife Marilyn of Greenville; a daughter, Sarah Catherine
Warren Davis of Greenville; grandchildren Jeffrey Warren and wife Lori of
Rockwall, Rachel Warren Carr and husband Franklin of Mesquite, Wesley Warren of

Greenville, Anthony “Tony” Warren of Commerce and Ginger Denise Davis Gardner
and husband Craig of Weatherford; and great-grandchildren Zachary Warren, Tyler
Warren, Dallas Warren, Dalton Warren, Zoë Gardner and Bailey Warren.
So when her eulogy is being read with her life’s action to rehash,
she has to be proud of the things that are said and how she spent her dash (the
poem “The Dash” by Linda Ellis). It is not the things that we have but the
people in our lives and how we treated them, with respect and love. We all are
a part of the family of our Lord.
