Flower Mound Leader (TX) - December 6, 2011

Arthur Earl Arnold passed away peacefully in his sleep at the age of 82, on November 29, 2011. Born in Fort Worth, Texas to John Earl Arnold and Rosanna Virginia Jones,

Arthur he grew up around the Dallas area, graduated high school in Carrollton, TX and played football for Texas A&M for two years. He joined the United States Marine Corps. in 1947, to serve his country and support his family. Arthur honorably served his country, spending over twenty years in military, which involved wartime tours of duty in both Korea and Vietnam.

Following his U.S. Marine Corps. service from 1947 until 1956, Arthur continued his active duty service with the U.S. Air Force, until retiring in 1969, with his wife and two children at Travis Air Force Base, California. After a long career with the military, he began working for the Southern Pacific Railroad for another twenty years; finally retiring in 1989. She always understood Art's spirited nature. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and sportsman until well into his seventies. Lillian encouraged his outdoor pursuits; his passion for the challenges of nature was unquenchable and she was happiest when he was happiest.

Four years after Lillian's passing, Arthur came home to Texas to be with his daughter, Artice in Elgin, TX. There they owned a small ranch, where he enjoyed his remaining years watching his daughter train horses and riders.

He is preceded in death by his wife of almost 50 years, Ruby Lillian Arnold; his only son, Orrington Lynn Arnold of Suisun City, CA; his elder sister, Suidie Negley of San Diego, CA.

Wheeler

2011, Shamrock, Wheeler Co., TX, Obituary

Amarillo Globe-News (TX) - Wednesday, July 6, 2011

Loren Jones, 80, died Sunday, July 3, 2011. Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in Bible Baptist Church in Shamrock with the Rev. Kelly Raymond officiating. Burial will be in Lela Cemetery in Lela by Wright Funeral Directors.

Loren Roosevelt Jones went to Heaven a shoutin' on July 3, 2011. He was born Dec. 22, 1930, in Almon, Mo., to John Sterling and Lela Ruth Plummer Jones.

On June 8, 1953, he married Dorothy Jean Moore in Logan, N.M. They were married for 52 years when she went to be with Jesus on April 22, 2006. Loren grew up in the Almon and Hermitage, Mo. area, where he graduated high school in 1949. Shortly afterwards, he became a sergeant in the U.S. Marines and was stationed in Camp Pendleton, Calif., proudly serving his country. During his time in the military, Loren became a depot operator for the Rock Island RR working in Logan N.M., Amarillo, Eldon, Mo., San Jon, N.M., Vega, Texhoma, Okla., and Dalhart before retiring from the Cottonbelt RR in 1985.

A devout Christian, he and Dorothy brought numerous people to know the Lord. He was a fun-loving, always laughing and telling jokes or some silly stories. Some of the fondest memories created were of Loren strumming his guitar as Dorothy played piano while their children sang along and giggled! As owner of Jones' Honey & Bee Apiary, he and his son Duane raised honey bees together and produced the best honey anyone ever ate! Through many camping and grass-roots honey trips, Loren and Dorothy became a source of strength, wisdom, confidence, inspiration and just plain silliness for their grandchildren. Loren was a kind man who would do anything for anyone, never met a stranger, teaching his kids how to pray, laugh, love and live.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy, in April 2006; a daughter, Rita Cheryl Jones; a grandson; a great-grandson; and his parents.

Survivors include a son, Duane and wife Joyce Jones of Shamrock; two daughters, Patty and husband Bob Blankenship of Bartlesville, Okla., and Dixie and husband Roger Pace of Shamrock; eight grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
