Lorraine Ann (O'Brien) Karnicki, formerly of Northampton, passed away Dec. 4, 2011, quietly surrounded by family in her home in Monument Beach on Cape Cod. Lorraine was born Sept. 8, 1927, in Hartford, Conn., and grew up in Holyoke, where she attended high school and college.

She also lived in Greenfield and Washington, D.C. After marrying her late husband, Paul James Karnicki, she moved to Northampton, where she lived until 1974. Subsequently, they moved to Monument Beach. She then worked for the next 18 years for the U.S. Coast Guard Exchange System in an accounting and bookkeeping career until her retirement in 1992.

She was the eldest of four children, and was predeceased by her mother and father, Sylvia and Thomas E. O'Brien, and her brother, Stephen O'Brien.

She is survived by her sister and brother, Judith Fagan of Monument Beach and Thomas O'Brien of West Carrollton, Ohio; her youngest daughter, Helen-Ann Blankenship; her son, Damon Paul Blankenship, of Monument Beach; her eldest daughter, Sylvia Scarborough and her husband Johnny of Medway and their children: Johnny Jr., Keith, Sandra and Adam Scarborough. Lorraine also leaves behind eight great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends. She was greatly loved by anyone who knew her.

Lorraine was especially intelligent and compassionate. She loved reading, especially the newspaper, and was very abreast of world events. She was an avid New York Times crossword connoisseur and loved a difficult challenge. She was always full of life with a positive attitude. She loved ballroom dancing and was always young at heart. She had a strong will to live; she was a courageous, beautiful, elegant, and dignified lady. She had great devotion to and a deep love for her family. She had a practical, logical mind, sharp wit, keen intuition, a great sense of humor and a loving heart. She was the perfect wife, mother, grandmother and best friend. She will be missed beyond words, and her absence will forever leave a huge hole in the hearts of those who love her. Lorraine was a parishioner of St. John the Evangelist's Catholic Church in Pocasset.

Visiting hours will be held Friday, Dec. 9, 2011, from 1 to 2 p.m. at the Nickerson-Bourne Funeral Home, 40 MacArthur Blvd., Bourne, followed by a funeral service at 2 p.m. in the funeral home. A private burial will take place at a later date.

Eleanor (Kowalski) Fitzpatrick, "Lee", age 93, of Somerset died February 24, 2012. She was the wife of the late William Vincent Fitzpatrick. Born and raised in Fall River, she moved to Somerset 52 years ago.

Mrs. Fitzpatrick worked at the former Firestone Tire and Rubber in Fall River for several years. She was a graduate of BMC Durfee High School, Class of 1936, served in the United States Military both with the WAC's and WAVE's during World War II, and was a communicant of St. Patrick's Church in Somerset.

Surviving: a daughter Dolores M. Blankenship of Somerset, 2 granddaughters: April L. Lynch and Audra Bouchard, 1 great grandson Cameron Lynch, 1 sister and several nieces and nephews.

A Prayer Service will be held Tuesday, February 28, 2012 at 10AM in the Waring-Sullivan Home Of Memorial Tribute At Rose E. Sullivan, 866 County St. Somerset. Burial in Notre Dame Cemetery, Fall River.

Clarence W. (Bruce) Bryant, Jr., of Ipswich, died Thursday, July 14, 2011, at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers, after his illness. He was the husband of the late Ann J. Bryant, with whom he shared 43 years of marriage. Born Dec. 10, 1928 in Lynchburg, Va., he was the son of the late Clarence W. and Florence J. (Johnson) Bryant.

He retired from the U.S. Army with the rank of Master Sergeant in the Military Police Corps after over 20 years of service, serving in World War II, Korea and Vietnam. He was the recipient of the Bronze Star, Army Commendation award with oak leaf cluster (2nd award), and numerous Theater and Campaign awards with battle stars. Upon retirement, he was employed by the former Ann & Hope Store and Zayre's, followed by many years as the shoe department manager at the former Hill's Family Store in Ipswich. He was also recognized for his work with the implementation of the Enhanced 911 system in Ipswich and Rowley. Bruce was an active member of First Church in Ipswich, and served on many committees and boards. He enjoyed traveling, playing golf and tennis with his late wife.

Bruce is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, David B. and Debra Bryant of York, Pa.; his daughter and son-in-law, Pamela and Norman Colter of Ipswich; his son and daughter-in-law, Dana B. and Judy Bryant of Epping, N.H.; his grandchildren, Kara Lynn Bryant of York, Pa., Shannon and Heather Colter of Ipswich, and Jonathan and Daniel Bryant of Epping, N.H.; his sister, Norma Jean Blankenship of Lynchburg, Va.; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was predeceased by two brothers, Robert and Samuel.

His memorial service will be held at First Church in Ipswich on Sunday, Sept. 4, at 2 p.m.

Sammie “Sissy” Gail Blankenship, age 68, of Lynn, formerly of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away September 1, 2011. She was the daughter of the late Aileen Mullins. She was a wonderful, caring and loving person who always put others before herself. She will be missed by many.

Sammie is survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Joetta and Dan Silva of Saugus, her brother and sister-in-law, Terry and Sue Mullins of Stoneham, many nieces and nephews, among them, Edward Mullins, who she raised, great nieces and nephews, cousins and an aunt. She was the sister of the late K. Quinton Mullins, and the late Timothy Mullins.

Relatives and friends respectfully invited to attend Graveside Services in Lindenwood Cemetery, Montvale Ave, Stoneham, on Wednesday at 2:00 P.M.

Sherry Ann Fiske, 62, of 34 Bacon St., Orange, died (March 2, 2012) at home after a courageous 4+ year battle with cancer. Sherry was born in Gardner on Nov. 13, 1949 to the late William Charles MacEwen and Patricia Ann (Taintor) Parker.

She grew up in Phillipston and Athol and graduated from Athol High School in 1967. Sherry was the co-owner of Sherry & Diane Catering before becoming the Food Service Director of the Orange Elementary Schools. Prior to her retirement in June 2008, Sherry was an integral part in the innovation of new ideas in the school kitchens. Through grants and other creative means, she implemented an electronic ticketing system and free breakfast, farm to table, and summer feeding programs. She participated in conferences across the state to keep up on legislation and opportunities she could use to improve her programs. During employment, and even after retirement, she was often asked to consult with other food services directors so they could learn from her. She participated in the 20-mile Walk for Hunger several years in a row and enjoyed painting and participating in craft fairs with her friends as the 3 Sisters Crafters. She also enjoyed traveling, riding her motorcycle, and spending time with her grandchildren.

Sherry was predeceased by her husband of 22 years, Keith Fiske, and also by her first husband, Peter Softic. She was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother and friend. Times spent with her family and friends were most important to Sherry.

She will be remembered and missed by her mother: Patricia A. Parker of Orange; her siblings: Diane Blankenship and her husband Brian of Athol, William MacEwen and his wife Fran of Brookville, PA, and Brian MacEwen of Petersham; her beloved children: Jodi A. Coverly and her husband Scott of Shrewsbury, Peter J. Softic and fiance Cindy Doyle of Athol, Marcy L. Kelley and her husband Paul of Leominster; her treasured grandchildren: Devon and Dawson Softic, Colin and Cali Laakso and Meghan and Sean Doyle, and several nieces and nephews. Additionally, she leaves her mother-in-law, Nancy Fiske; her stepson, William Fiske; her step-granddaughter, Chelsea Fiske, along with countless other friends and family whom were blessed to know her.

There will be no services Sherry chose to participate in the Anatomical Gift Program at the University of Massachusetts Medical School with the hope that she could contribute to the future of medical education and research.

Ralph Leroy Sprague, 70, passed away Sunday, June 12, 2011, at his home in Hopkinton. Born in Uxbridge, he was the son of the late Ernest Elgin Sprague and Ollie "Olive" Jane ( Blankenship ) Sprague and the stepson of the late Millicent (Stanley) (Jenks) Sprague. Ralph moved to Hopkinton as a young man and worked as a painter until he retired. He enjoyed reading, fishing, horticulture and solitude.

He is survived by his sister, Charlotte M. Natyniak of N. Smithfield, R.I.; many nieces and nephews; his former wife, Christina Poirier, and her family; as well as many friends and neighbors.

He is predeceased by his siblings, David, Hollis and Patricia Miller; his niece, Dawn (Miller) Gurney, and nephew, Darrell Miller.

All are welcome to attend a graveside service Saturday, July 16, at noon in Evergreen Cemetery in Hopkinton.

Katherine M. (Boncore) Hubbard, age 99, a long-time resident of Tewksbury, formerly of Wilmington, January 28, 2012.

Katherine was the beloved mother of Donald Hubbard and his wife Diana of Atkinson, NH, Allen Hubbard and his wife Sherry of Tewksbury, and the late Earl F. Hubbard, Jr. Loving "Grammy Tina" of 10 grandchildren, and 23 great-grandchildren. Cherished daughter of the late Charles and Louise (Rizzo) Boncore. Dear sister of Angelo Boncore of Somerville, Dorothy Blankenship of Tewksbury, the late Pauline Gennaco, Mary Garten, and Louise Puckett, Katherine is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Family and friends will gather at the Nichols Funeral Home, Inc., 187 Middlesex Ave. (Rte. 62), Wilmington, for a Funeral Service on Wednesday, February 1st, at 11:00 A.M.

Lorraine McCulloch, age 77, of Plymouth, formerly of Duxbury, died Sunday, May 15 at her home in Plymouth.

Loving mother of Shawn P. Kelly and his wife Kim of Westfield, Susan A. Harrington and her husband Brian of Plymouth, Sharon K. Blankenship and her husband James of Halifax, and Sandra M. Racicot of Halifax; step-mother of Jonathan McCullochof Taunton, Jill Gomez of Plainville, and Jennifer Martina of Marshfield; loving grandmother of 17 and great-grandmother of three. She was the sister of the late Charlotte M. Sullivan.

Born Sept. 11, 1933 in Dorchester, a daughter of the late John J. and Margaret M. (Queen) Sullivan. Lorraine worked as production supervisor for Ocean Spray Cranberries, retiring after 30 years and was an avid fan of the Red Sox.

Funeral from the Cartmell Funeral home, 150 Court St., Plymouth on Thursday at 9:00 a.m., followed by a funeral Mass at St. Bonaventure's Church, in Manomet, at 10:00 a.m. Burial will take place at the Mayflower Cemetery in Duxbury.
