E. Maxine Lude Blankenship, age 71 of Greenville, passed away at 2:35 p.m. Friday April 27, 2012 at St. John's Hospital in Springfield [Sangamon Co., IL].

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 2, 2012 at the Donnell-Wiegand Funeral Home with Rev. Bruce Sasse officiating. Interment will be in Mt.Auburn Cemetery.

Edith Maxine Lude, the daughter of Max Lude and Dorothy Spradling Lude, was born in Greenville on April 14, 1941. She grew up here and attended the Greenville Public Schools and graduated from Greenville High School. Early in life she worked at Hillveiw Manor Nursing Home and has worked at fair Oaks in the Activity Department for many years retiring in 2008.

Maxine and Donald Curtis Blankenship were united in marriage on October 1, 1960 and he preceded her in death on December 19, 2001.

They are the parents of three children who survive: Steven C. Blankenship of Houston, Texas, Jeffrey A. (Amy) Blankenship of Rural Vandalia, Crystal J. (Aaron) Winters of rural Vandalia, one grand daughter Ave Winters, sister Louise (Harold) Vohlken of Rural Mulberry Grove, and brother Max (Sharon) Lude of West Frankfort, IL.

Viola Grace Fidder-Wych, 92, of Garden Prairie went to be with the Lord on Friday, Jan. 28, 2011. Viola was the youngest of 12 children of John Jacob and Anna (Berg) Fidder. Born Aug. 26, 1918.

Married John Henry Wych on Oct. 11, 1937, in Belvidere. She lived her life in Garden Prairie. Member of Garden Prairie United Church of Christ. She was a licensed beautician as well as having worked for Green Giant, Midwest Bottle Cap, Parsons Casket Hardware and Garden Prairie Post Office. She enjoyed playing bingo and collecting antiques with her husband. She loved her family deeply. She will be missed by her friends and family.

Survived by daughters, Barbara (Vern) Schwebke of Poplar Grove, Marjorie (Roy) Coleman of Loves Park and Nancy (Ron) Blankenship of Cherry Valley; seven grandchildren; 16 great- grandchildren; and one soon to be great-great-grandchild.

Predeceased by parents; husband; an infant granddaughter; seven sisters, and four brothers.

Service at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 31, in Buck-Wheeler-Hyland Funeral Home, 218 W. Hurlbut Ave., with the Rev. Dale Beaman of Garden Prairie United Church of Christ, will officiate. Burial in Garden Prairie Cemetery.

Louisville — Lois Ileen Buchholz, 82, formerly of Liberty, Ind., died Friday, Feb. 24, 2012, at the Knolls of Oxford [Butler, Richland Co., OH]. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday at Showalter Blackwell Long Funeral Home, Fosdick Chapel, Liberty, Ind., with the Rev. Jeff Wolf of First Friends Meeting in Richmond officiating. Graveside services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday in Mason Cemetery, Mason, Ill.

On Dec. 24, 1929, Lois was born in Effingham, to Edward and Myrtle Blankenship. She was married to the Rev. William Buchholz on Oct. 26, 1956, and they moved to Liberty in 1974. Lois loved spending time with her grandchildren, and was known for her cooking. In her free time, she enjoyed making quilt blocks.

Survivors include three sons and their wives, John and Donna Buchholz of Richmond, Ind., Robert and Rozan Buchholz of Liberty, Ind., and Ed and Marilynn Buchholz of Centerville, Ind.; two daughters and their husbands, Alberta and Bob Simpson of Barnhill and Becky and Jim Flack of Shumway; a sister, Joyce French of Effingham; 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; several nieces and nephews; and her caretakers and family at the Knolls of Oxford.

Preceding Lois in death were her parents; husband; a brother, Carl Blankenship; a sister, Becky McPeak; and a grandson: Jimmy Simpson.

David K. Blankenship, age 60, passed away on August 24, 2010 at Veterans Memorial Hospital in Chicago, Ill. He was the son of William (Bill) and Francis Blankenship, formerly of Monticello, Ky. now deceased. He was an Airman in the U. S. Navy and served his country with honor.

Graveside services were held Friday, August 27 at the Mill Springs National Cemetery [Pulaski Co., KY] with Military Honors.

Jacob R. Salas Sr., 52, of Chicago, died March 28, 2012, at Advocate Trinity Hospital, Chicago. A visitation was Tuesday, April 3 and funeral services were held Wednesday, April 4 at Elmwood Funeral Chapel, Chicago and St. Francis de Sales Church. Internment was at Holy Cross Cemetery, Calumet City.

He was born on Feb. 5, 1960, the son of Epifanio and Gloria Salas of Chicago. He went to school in Chicago and graduated from Black Hawk College in Moline with two degrees. He married Rhonda Wisdom of Geneseo on May 12, 1979. They later divorced. He married Pamela Alvarez Salas of Chicago in 1999. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, being a member of the Signal Corp, and served three tours of duty in Germany. He also was stationed in Colorado and Georgia.

Survivors include his widow and ex-wife; his daughters, Julie (Ray) Blankenship of Geneseo, Cynthia (Steve) Rick of Atkinson and Linda (Alexander) Corber of Colona; stepchildren, Veronica Alvarez, Benjamin Salas and Nina Salas, all of Chicago; grandchildren, Liliana, Autumn, Kyle and Summer; step-grandchildren, Nicole, Alicia, Angel, Eric, Kira and Alison; four brothers; five sisters; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his son, Jacob R. Salas Jr.; his parents; two brothers and one sister.

John S. Hoover Beecher City John S. Hoover, 83, of Beecher City, IL, passed away at 7:02 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2011, in St. Anthony Memorial Hospital in Effingham. John was born June 7, 1927, in Shafter Township, Fayette County, IL the son of James Byron and Rena L. Blankenship Hoover.

 John was formerly a foreman at Fedder's Corporation in Effingham and formerly served in the United States Army. He was affiliated with the Beecher City United Methodist Church. He was a member of VFW Post # 7676 of Altamont, IL and American Legion Posts #95 of Vandalia, IL.

He married Joan Hudson on Oct. 25, 1991, and she survives. Also surviving are daughters: Kathi Laurence of Coldwater, MI; Debbie (Jim) Troxell of Brownstown, IL and Tina (Chris) Jahn of Centralia, IL; step-daughters: Leslie Wood of Thayer, IL and Lisa Kopf of Beecher City, IL; step-son Mark Wood of Beecher City, IL; sister Wanda Walton of Vandalia, IL; ten grandchildren; three step grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; three step great grandchildren and one great great grandson.

He was preceded in death by a son Gary, his parents, three sisters and three brothers.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 15, in Lockart-Green Funeral Home in Beecher City. Rev. Paul Bauer will officiate. Burial will be in Mound Cemetery, Cowden, IL. Military rites by the Shelby County Honor Guard.

Linus J. Drees, 70, of Dieterich, passed away at 3:41 p.m. Wednesday, May 25, 2011, at St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital, Effingham.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Isidore Parish, rural Dieterich (Bishop Creek), with burial in St. Aloysius Cemetery.

Linus was born Jan. 11, 1941, in Effingham, the son of Joseph and Josephine (Cremer) Drees. He was a member of St. Isidore Parish, Bishop Creek, and Teutopolis American Legion Post 924. Linus also served with the U.S. Army in Germany. Linus had worked at Thies Grocery for more than 30 years. He retired in April 2010 as a meat cutter for Martin's IGA Plus. Linus also had been engaged in farming.

He is survived by his wife, Betty of Dieterich; one son, Patrick (Cindy) of Bishop; one daughter, Deborah (Dan) Blankenship of Teutopolis; 10 grandchildren, Michael, Jessica, Lucas, Josie and Derek Drees, David and Andy Mersman, and Leighton, Mikayla and Logan Blankenship .

Linus was preceded in death by his parents; an infant sister, Coletta; and one son-in-law, Bob Mersman.

Ellen A. Mersman, 74, of rural Effingham died at 6:55 p.m. Friday, Aug. 19, 2011, at Provena Covenant Hospital in Urbana.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary Help of Christians Church in the Green Creek area of rural Effingham, with burial in St. Mary's Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today, Aug. 22, at Bauer Funeral Home, Effingham, with a combined Catholic Daughters of the Americas and Council of Catholic Women rosary at 6 p.m. and a parish wake service at 7 p.m. Mrs. Mersman was born Aug. 19, 1937, in Mattoon, the daughter of Alphonse and Catherine (Fuesting) Probst.

She married John Mersman on Oct. 5, 1957. He preceded her in death on Dec. 30, 2010. She was a homemaker and dairy farm wife. She also was a member of St. Mary Help of Christians Church of Green Creek, St. Mary's Council of Catholic Women and Catholic Daughters of the Americas Court 720. Mrs. Mersman enjoyed playing cards, quilting and spending time with family and friends.

Survivors include four sons, Paul (wife, Kim), Mark, Dan (wife, Tonya) and Tom, all of Effingham; one daughter, Karen (Joe) Lidy of Island Grove; 11 grandchildren, David, Andy, Brittany, Courtney, Lauren, Brooke, Blake and Jack Mersman, and John, James and Jacob Lidy; two brothers, Norman (wife, Johnna) Probst of Chesterfield, Mo., and Wayne (wife, Edna) Probst of Mattoon; daughter-in-law, Deb (Dan) Blankenship of Teutopolis; and sister-in-law, Rose Marie Probst of Mattoon.

Frank was born Aug. 28, 1930, in Lerna, the son of Frank E. and Mary Ellen (Parker) Huffman Sr. He married Yvonne L. "Bonnie" Blankenship on Dec. 31, 1961, in Mattoon. She was his loving wife for more than 50 years. Frank was a veteran in the United States Air Force. He was a member of the VFW Post 1769 and the American Legion Post 120, both of Effingham. He worked as a laborer in construction for many highway projects.

Survivors include his wife, Bonnie; two daughters, Debbie Draper of Effingham and Tammy (Scott) Grant of Tennessee; three sons, Del Huffman of Chattanooga, Tenn., Michael (Patty) Huffman and Kenneth Huffman, both of Effingham; sister, Betty Edwards of Effingham; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Judith Ann Edwards and Margaret Pygott; granddaughter, Amy Elizabeth Johnson; and grandson, Clinton Dale Huffman.

Barbara was born Nov. 29, 1939, in Brockton, Mass., the daughter of John and Delores (Weldon) Egan. She married Russell Alan Kelley on Nov. 6, 1960, in Brockton, Mass., and he preceded her in death on Feb. 2, 2004. Ms. Kelley had been a cook with the St. Elmo School District and was a FACE board member.

She is survived by her son, Brian Kelley (wife, Ronda) of Des Moines, Iowa; daughter, Kristina Fasnacht (husband, Steve) of Metropolis; grandsons, Justin R. Fasnacht, Matthew D. Fasnacht and Collin P. Kelley; granddaughters, Jaimee Blankenship, Krysta B. Tish, Erin E. Kelley and Chloe B. Kelley; and six great-grandchildren, Kaden D. Tish, Jaxson J. Tish, Madalynn G. Blankenship, Torin B. Tish, Corrigan K. Blankenship and Ian M. Fasnacht.

Edward Blankenship, 79, died Saturday, March 31, 2012, in Fair Acres Nursing Home in DuQuoin [Perry Co., IL]. He was born Sept. 3, 1932, in Springfield to Jim and Lucile (Eads) Blankenship.

Edward served his country in the U.S. Army as a sergeant during the Korean War. He retired from Volkswagen of America as a mechanic and district service manager. He married the former Mary Pfister, formerly of Ridgway, on March 20, 1959, in California. His passion in life was the mechanics of cars, and he loved to build and fly remote control airplanes. He also enjoyed fishing and off-road racing. Edward was a true hobbyist and able to fix almost anything. He was a good husband, father, grandfather and friend, and he will be missed.

Survivors include his wife, Mary (Pfister) Blankenship of Valier; son, Jim (Donna) Blankenship of Hesperia, Calif.; daughter, Diana (David) Whitney of San Luis Obispo, Calif.; grandson, Kenny (AJ) Keppler of Atlanta; and brother, Mel and Lou Blankenship of St. Peters-burg, Fla.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 4, in Cox and Son Funeral Home in Ridgway with the Rev. Eric White officiating. Interment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery in Ridgway. Military rites will be conducted at the gravesite.

John I. Blankenship, 83, Mt. Vernon, passed away at 9 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 17, 2010, at Countryside Manor Residential Center in Mt. Vernon. He was born in Kell on Saturday, Oct. 2, 1926, a son of Fred A. and Belle (Bond) Blankenship. He married Alma Lee Lowery on Aug. 30, 1947, in Champaign, and she preceded him in death on Nov. 11, 2006.

Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Monday at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon with Brother Alan Smith officiating. Interment will follow at Wells Chapel Cemetery in Wayne County. The chaplain of Mt. Vernon American Legion Post 141 will conduct a military flag presentation service. Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Mr. Blankenship is survived by two daughters, Victoria Avery of Lakeland, Fla., and Nancy Smith and husband Alan of Mt. Vernon; two granddaughters, Jennifer Phillips and husband Craig of Chicago and Sarah Smith of Mt. Vernon; great-granddaughter, Gracie of Mt. Vernon; and several nieces and nephews.

His parents, his wife, two brothers and two infant brothers preceded him in death. John served with the U.S. Army from March 27, 1946 to March 28, 1947. With his wife Alma he co-owned and co-operated Blankenship Builders in Champaign County, a building and land development and real estate brokerage office. He was a member of First Free Will Baptist Church in Mt. Vernon

William "Bill" McIntire Schelosky, 69, of Mt. Vernon, passed away, 2:16 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 14, 2011, Good Samaritan Regional Health Center in Mt. Vernon. William was born Aug. 20, 1942, in Mt. Vernon, the son of William Moritz and Leala Fern (McIntire) Schelosky.

He married Esther (Skrobish) Germann on May 7, 1993, in Paducah, Ky.; she survives in Mt. Vernon. Bill was a member of the Trinity Episcopal Church in Mt. Vernon. He had previously operated Jordan Furniture Company in Mt. Vernon. Later, he worked for several years as a sales person at Heilig Meyers Furniture Store in Mt. Vernon. He also worked for several years as a bus driver for Beck Bus in Mt. Vernon, driving both charter and school buses but he most enjoyed driving the school bus. Bill also served in the Illinois Army National Guard. He was a member of the Mt. Vernon Gun and Sportsman's Club.

William is survived by his wife, Esther Schelosky of Mt. Vernon; two daughters, Julie Jette and husband Martin of Bradley and Susan Amy Bain and husband Timothy of Woodlawn; two sisters, Martha Newell and husband Herb of Waltonville and Jo Ann Williams and husband Doug of Mt. Vernon; three step-children, Mike MacEachern and wife Karen of Mt. Vernon; Bonnie MacEachern Zaretsky and husband Ed of Buffalo Grove and Dawn Henry and husband Eddie of Mt. John E. Blankenship, age 92, of Texico, passed away at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 26, 2010, at White Oaks Rehabilitation & Health Center in Mt. Vernon. Mr. Blankenship was born in Texico on Jan. 5, 1918, the son of John and Flossie (Finn) Blankenship. He married Mary Hughes on June 10, 1941, in Centralia, and she preceded him in death July 6, 2007.  John was a lifelong resident of the Kell area where he and Mary raised their family and operated a grain and livestock farm. He was a member of the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. He enjoyed his family and his farm.

John is survived by one son, Larry Blankenship, and wife Edie; one daughter, Marilyn Buehne and husband Ron; and by one son-in-law, David Pierce, all of Texico. He is also survived by seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

Mr. Blankenship was preceded in death by his parents; by a daughter, Janice Pierce; by a granddaughter, Tamara Blankenship; and by an infant brother, Harry James Blankenship.

Funeral services for John E. Blankenship will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at the L.R. Osborn & Son Funeral Home in Kell with Pastor Larry Shelton officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasant Hill Cemetery near Mt. Vernon.

Lela M. Blankenship, 85, of Jerseyville, formerly of Springfield, passed away Friday, Sept. 24, 2010, at her home. She was born June 7, 1925, in Pawnee, Ill., the daughter of Francis M. and Sarah M. (Candiff) Neer.

She married Harrison T. Blankenship in 1948 in Charleston, W. Va. Mrs. Blankenship was a homemaker and a member of United Pentecostal Church.

She is survived by her husband, Harrison; son, William Stahl of Jerseyville; a brother, Lester L. Neer of Des Moines, Iowa; a sister, Edna M. Grady of Des Moines, Iowa; four grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister.

Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until time of funeral service at 11 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 27, 2010, at Vancil-Murphy Funeral Home in Springfield, with Reverend John Wentz officiating. Burial will be in Camp Butler National Cemetery in Springfield.

Lillian was a resident of the Elgin- Carpentersville areas for over 69 years. She had worked in manufacturing for most of her life. Lillian was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend.

Survivors include her three children, Melvin Lange of Louisiana, Mo., Dale (Nancy) Lange of Bella Vista, Ark. and Bonnie (John) Russell of Carpentersville, whom Lillian made her home with. Lillian is also survived by seven grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; 10 brothers and sisters; as well as many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of almost 50 years, Vernon Lange; her two brothers; and her five sisters.

Gilbert Luther Blankenship, Age 83, of Newark, passed away Saturday afternoon, April 21, 2012 at Valley West Community Hospital in Sandwich [IL] surrounded by his loving family.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m Wednesday at West Lisbon Church, rural Newark. Pastor Steven Lombardo II will officiate. Interment will follow at West Lisbon Cemetery.

Gilbert was born March 29, 1929 in Somonauk, [DeKalb Co.] Illinois, the son of Luther and Zetta (Hawkins) Blankenship. He attended schools in Somonauk and Newark. He married Lois Nelson on September 3, 1949 and they spent the next 62 years happily married.

He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and uncle who will be deeply missed by his family and many friends. He had a firm handshake and an encouraging word for everyone he met. Gilbert was a man of faith. He was a devoted member of the West Lisbon Church where he held many offices over the years. He served on Lisbon and Newark school boards. Always interested in young people and sports, he officiated many basketball games and was inducted into the Illinois Basketball Coaches Hall of Fame. An active member in 4-H and FFA in his younger years, he pursued a career in farming, raising livestock and grain in the Newark area. He was always proud to be called a farmer. In the 1960's, he and Lois pursued a second career in retail, operating children's and ladies' apparel stores.

He is survived by his loving wife, Lois; their five children, Pam (Rod) Chally of Jacksonville, Fl., Steve (Martha) Blankenship of Newark, Gary (Jill) Blankenship of Sheridan, Nancy (Joel) Ottosen of Yorkville and Susan (Rick) Wojak of Sugar Grove; his grandchildren, Jennifer Chally, Jon (Jeanna) Chally, Stephanie Blankenship, Scott (Danielle) Blankenship, Kelly (Tyler) Simmons, Matt Stege, Emily Stege, Mike Ottosen, Mark Wojak and David Wojak; three great grandchildren, Ashley Buzen, Grace Chally and Leighton Chally; nieces, nephews and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Rose Smith, Myrtle Abbott and Lucille Seaton; special nephew, Gene Claude.

Herbert retired from the U.S. Navy and served during WWII in the Pacific. He also served in the Korean War, Vietnam War and the Cold War. He loved woodworking, classical music, westerns, gardening and was an accomplished artist.

Dorothy was born October 23, 1925, in Beason, the daughter of Edward and Kathryn Schmidt Knecht. She married Claude Blankenship on July 30, 1966, at St. Mary's Church in Lincoln. He preceded her in death on October 4, 2002. Dorothy graduated from Beason High School and was an avid cook and baker, loved to garden and especially loved to travel. She retired from the Logan County ASCS office. She was a member of Holy Family Church in Lincoln and the Western Catholic Union.

Thelma Martin Blankenship, 99, of Granite City, Illinois and formerly a longtime resident of the Moseley and Midlothian, Virginia communities, born December 31, 1912, in Stuart, Va., died Tuesday, Feb. 21, 2012, at Meridian Village, Glen Carbon, Ill.

Mrs. Blankenship retired in 1976 as a rural mail carrier after 40 years of dedicated service with the United States Postal Service. She was an active and faithful member of the Rural Letter Carriers Association. She was also the oldest member of the Mt. Hermon Baptist Church in Moseley and was very active and dedicated member throughout the years. She enjoyed her days of gardening, traveling, collecting coins, cooking and being an avid sports fan. Her and her late husband volunteered many years at the Johnston Willis Hospital in Richmond, Virginia. She will be remembered for the love and special times shared with her family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Stuart Gray Blankenship, whom she married May 29, 1935, in Moseley, Va., and who died January 1, 2004; her parents, John Gabriel and Callie, nee Hubbard, Martin; a great-grandson, Stuart; and a sister, Reeves Ahern.

Surviving are three sons, Dr. Robert (Sandy) Blankenship of Collinsville, Ill., Stuart Gray (Anna) Blankenship Jr. of Granite City, Ill., and Dale (Susan) Blankenship of Powhatan, Va.; a daughter, Ellen (Ray) Fleming of Richmond, Va.; 13 grandchildren, Linda, Karen, Michael, Kimberly, Robert, Sharon, Beth, Daniel, Powell, Paul, Stuart, Isaac and John; 19 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and other extended family and friends.

Funeral services are pending with the Bennett-Bardens Funeral Home in Powhatan, Va. Burial will be at Mt. Hermon Baptist Church Cemetery in Moseley, Va.

Judith D. (Blankenship) Cook, Forsyth, IL, passed peacefully into eternity on Wednesday, February 22, 2012 at Decatur Memorial Hospital after a struggle of several months with leukemia. Judy was born at home on August 4, 1940 to Rev. Edward B. and Grace E. (Burroughs) Blankenship in Shelbyville, IL. Her oldest brother registered her birth and named her Judy Darlene, not Judith.

Judy graduated from Shelbyville High School in 1958, and married Lewis A. Cook of rural Shelbyville on July 27, 1958. After the wedding, she changed her name legally to Judith. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 2008. Louie and Judy moved to eastside Decatur in 1965, and they lived on 44th Street until 1988. Judy was primarily a homemaker who enjoyed being at home with her children and who worked hard caring for her family. Over the years, she also sold Avon and Fullerbrush products, and she worked for the Macon County home extension office, Sears, St. Mary's Hospital, and Millikin University in the registrar's office. She was always active in church activities. She also worked with deaf children teaching sign language, and in recent years she volunteered for Meals on Wheels and the Shelby County Historical Society. She enjoyed tole and oil painting and playing piano, and she sent many thoughtful notes and cards. Louie and Judy lived in Amboy, IL from 1988 to 1993 and then returned to rural Shelbyville. They moved to Forsyth in 2007.

Survivors include Judy's husband of 53 years, Louie; her daughter, Robin (Neil) Hamel of Oconto Falls, WI; her son, Phillip (Rebecca) Cook of San Antonio, TX; and grandchildren Ariel (Geoff) Johns, and Rachel, Caleb, and David Hamel of Wisconsin; Collin Cook of Texas; Laurie Smith of Sacramento, CA; and three great-grandchildren. She is also survived by brother-in-law, Richard Carruthers of Ramsey, IL; sisters-in-law, Joyce Blankenship of Salem, OH, Joanne (Don) Apple, Shelbyville, IL, Alice (Harold) Ferguson, Eaton, OH, and Marty (Craig) Dahlquist of Springfield, IL; and nieces and nephews.

Judy was preceded in death by her parents; her twin sisters Rosalind Carruthers and Violet Boaz; brothers Gerald, Kenneth, and Billie Blankenship ; brothers-in-law David F. Cook and James "Pete" Boaz; and sister-in-law Inge Blankenship.

Campbell, Madge M. Age 91 of Bloomington IL, formerly of St. Louis, MO. Passed away on Wednesday, March 30, 2011 at Martin Health Care Center, Bloomington IL. Madge was born July 16, 1919 in Elmont, Missouri, the daughter of Charles Daniel and Louise Catherine Schmidt Blankenship.

She married William L. Campbell on July 20, 1940 in St. Louis, MO. He passed away September 12, 1986. Loving mother of Wayne Campbell , Sequim, WA and Richard (Barbara) Campbell, El Paso, IL and grandmother of Derek Campbell, Campaign, IL, Dennis Campbell, Campaign, IL and Rebecca Campbell, Jefferson City, MO.

She is preceded in death by her parents, 4 brothers and 3 sisters. Madge enjoyed quilting, cross stitching, gardening. She was an avid St. Louis Cardinals baseball fan. Services:

The funeral service will be conducted in the chapel of Hoffmeister Colonial Mortuary, 6464 Chippewa at Watson on Saturday, April 2, 2011 at 11:30 a.m. Interment will follow in St. Matthew Cemetery.

Helen L. Gault, nee Crocker, 90, of Waterloo, Ill., born Sept. 16, 1921, in Caledonia, Mo., died Sunday, Oct. 16, 2011; in Waterloo, Ill. Ms. Gault was a member of the First Baptist Church, Waterloo, Ill., retired Teachers Association, and Monroe County Home Extension.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Arnold Jesse and Pearl Josephine, nee Kitchell, Crocker; a brother, Clinton Crocker; and a grandson, Charles Hesse III.

Surviving are a daughter, Elaine (Charles) Hesse; two grandchildren, Sarah (Jamie) Gregson and Lisa (Jason) Niebruegge; four great-grandchildren, Charley Renee Gregson, Damon Gregson, Jesse Niebruegge and Lola Niebruegge; a sister, Eileen Blankenship; and a sister-in-law, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 19, 2011, at the First Baptist Church, Waterloo, Ill., with Pastor Steve Neill officiating. Burial will be held at Burksville Cemetery, Burksville, Ill.

Virginia A. Parr Becker, 81, of Coffeen, died on Saturday, April 16, 2011, at St. John's Hospital in Springfield. Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday at First United Methodist Church in Vandalia, with the Rev. Dr. Roger Grimmett officiating. Burial will be in Shiloh Cemetery in Coffeen.

Mrs. Becker was born on July 12, 1929, in New Holland, the daughter of Archibald E. and Mildred C. Guiser McNeil. She married Norman Parr on June 4, 1951; he died in 1966. She married the Rev. Lawrence E. Becker on June 9, 1968.

She is survived by her husband; son, Eric Parr of Fairmont; and daughters, Lynette and her husband Jerry Ward of Vandalia, Cheryl and her husband Denny Cain of Patoka, Diane and her husband Paul Walker of Charlottesville, Va., Karen and her husband Keith Breithaupt of Swansea, Beth and her husband Eugene Dust of St. Peters, Mo., Nelda and her husband Dan Blankenship, and Teresa and her husband Steve Burnett of Florissant, Mo.

DeWitt "Jack" Blankenship, Sr., 78, of Donnellson died Saturday, May 22, 2010 at 2:59 a.m. at Hillsboro Area Hospital. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 25, at 1 p.m. at Bass Patton Dean Funeral Home, Hillsboro with the Rev. Gary Stanford officiating. Burial will be at Waveland Cemetery, rural Hillsboro with military rites at graveside by V.F.W. Post 1306, Taylor Springs.

Born on June 11, 1931 in Mulberry Grove, he was the son of the late Roy and Mildred (Wildes) Blankenship. He married Connie E. Renfro on June 21, 1969 in Smithboro, and she survives. Mr. Blankenship lived in the Hillsboro area before moving to Donnellson in 1976. He worked as a custodian for the Hillsboro School District for 20 years, retiring in 1993. Prior to that he worked for Greenville Lumber Company, Greenville. A veteran of the Army, he was a lifetime member of V.F.W. Post 1306 and was a past mayor of Donnellson.

Survivors include five sons, Larry (wife Rose) Blankenship of Greenville, Dennis Blankenship of Centralia, Allen (wife Cathy) Blankenship and DeWitt Blankenship, Jr., all of Hillsboro and Terry Blankenship of Alton; three daughters, Emily (husband Mike) Wilcox of Donnellson, Kimberly Leidner of Donnellson, and Carol Sue Blankenship; one brother, Scott (wife Joyce) Walker of Irving; one sister, Gloria (husband Bob) Pyle of Vera; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Rosie and a sister, Linda Matthews.

Norman Denver Ruppe, 87, of Hillsboro, died at 4:50 p.m. on Monday, May 30, 2011, at his residence.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday at Bass Patton Dean Funeral Home in Hillsboro, with the Rev. Larry O'Dell officiating. Burial will be in Olive Hill Cemetery in Coffeen, with military rites accorded by American Legion Post No. 1180 of Mulberry Grove.

Mr. Ruppe was born on May 27, 1924 in rural Mulberry Grove, the son of Fred and Mary Blankenship Ruppe. He married Nelda Annabelle Brockman on March 1, 1944, in Coffeen; she died on Oct. 28, 2009.

He is by children, Jue and her husband Glenn Stewart of Mulberry Grove, Jane and her husband Harvey LeBegue of Hillsboro, Gale and her husband Roger Myers of Hillsboro, and Michael Ruppe of Poplar Grove.

She attended the Chillicothe Christian Church and was a past member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Chillicothe.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Weber-Hurd Funeral Home. The Rev. Bob Hentrich will officiate. Burial will be in the Chillicothe City Cemetery.

Omar L. Rehberger, 90, of Lebanon, born April 12, 1920 in Lebanon, entered into rest on Dec. 24 at his home with family and friends by his side. Mr. Rehberger was a retired dairy and grain farmer. He was blessed with many wonderful qualities, one being his smile whom many of his close friends and family say can light up a room instantly. He was a kind and caring man with a compassionate heart who loved animals and life on the farm.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Matilda (Haas) Rehberger, his sister Mildred (Rehberger) Witzig, a brother, Paul J. Rehberger, his father-in-law and mother-in-law, William and Bertha Grolle, and a son-in-law, Lonnie G. Papenberg

Surviving are his loving wife of 66 years, Doris, nee Grolle, Rehberger of Lebanon, whom he married September 23, 1944; four daughters, Sue (Tom) Blankenship of Naperville, Ill., Mary (John) Edwards of Hampshire, Ill., Carol (Rich Schumacher) Papenberg of O'Fallon, Becky (Johnny Knobeloch) Rehberger of Mascoutah; grandchildren, Timothy Blankenship , Kimberly (Thompson-Edwards) Keenon, Brad Thompson, Jeff Papenberg, Michael Knobeloch, and Preston Knobeloch, a sister Cornelia Rehberger of Scotia, N.Y., a brother, Dr. Amos Rehberger of Brownsville, Texas, a very special dog Dakota and several nieces and nephews plus many dear friends. He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, The Lion's Club of Lebanon and the Farm Bureau.

Friends called during a visitation Dec. 27 and a mass of Christian burial was celebrated on Dec. 28 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Lebanon. Interment followed at St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery in Lebanon.

George A. Blankenship, 77, of Springfield, passed away at 9:10 p.m. on Wednesday, August 4, 2010 at Auburn Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. George was born August 31, 1932, the son of Charles and Tiny Baumgardner Blankenship.

He married Carol L. Lamb on May 27, 1989 in Springfield. George attended Litchfield High School and moved to Springfield in 1946 where he lived for the remainder of his life. He began working as a school bus driver for Everest Transportation in Springfield and in 1973 he, and the owners of Everest Transportation, formed Capitol Tours. In addition to serving as co-owner of the company, he also drove the buses until 2007. George was a member of First United Methodist Church in Springfield. He enjoyed traveling with his tour passengers, vacationing in Florida during the winter, and watching NASCAR; but most of all, he loved spending time with his family.

He is preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Charles and John Blankenship; three half-brothers; and four half-sisters.

George is survived by his wife, Carol; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

The family will receive visitors from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral ceremony at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, August 7, 2010, at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield. Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery.

Patricia "Pat" "Nanny" Rose Clark, born April 13, 1938, in London, England, received her wings on April 23, 2012 at her home with her family surrounding her.

Pat is survived by her husband, Thomas John Clark, Sr.; children, Thomas John (wife, Judy) Clark, Jr., Charles (wife, Terry) Heinemann, Lynne Marie Clark, Fred Joseph Heinemann, Jacquiline Elizabeth (husband, Kurt) Blankenship , Lisa Colleen Clark, David Gene (wife, Pemi) Heinemann, Leslie Kaye (husband, Tom) Cully, Donnell Wayne Heinemann, and Kelly Anne (husband, Todd) Clark-Campbell; twenty-one grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter on the way.

Pat is proceeded in death by 3 sons; William Patrick, William Daniel, Timothy Michael, One grandson, Travis; One grand-daughter, Rebecca; One great grand-son, Travis John. She was very active in the Eastern Star and was a Grand Worthy Matron of the Lila Rook Council. She started out with a very middle class and English life, not knowing how life would change coming to America. Pat's family and friends were of utmost importance; she treated everyone as if they were family, and they all were a joy in her life.

Cremation was accorded by Lincoln Land Cremation Society. The family will be hosting a Celebration of Life from 1:00-5:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 28, 2012 at the Knights of Columbus Council #364, 2200 S. Meadowbrook Rd., Springfield.

Paul L. White, 73, of Herrick, IL, formerly of Springfield, died at his residence, Sunday, December 4, 2011. He was born August 5, 1938 in Springfield, IL, the son of Harry Marshall and Moselle Garlits White.

Paul married Lorraine J. Jessee on November 13, 1999 and she survives. He is also survived by a step-daughter, Hilah Williams of Springfield; daughter, Judith Ann White of Colorado Springs, CO; son, Chris Lawrence White of Colorado Springs, CO; stepson, Russ Givens of Mason City, IA; step daughters, Cheryl Clevenger and Cindy Blankenship both of Springfield and Rebecca Ferguson of St. Louis, MO; one sister and two brothers, several grandchildren, great - grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and his first wife of thirty three and a half years, Patricia A. Gerula-White. Paul retired as an accountant with the State of Illinois Department of Public Aid. He had formerly worked for First National Bank, and had been a manager at Kroger's on Clear Lake Avenue. He was a member of both the Eagles Club and American Legion. Paul enjoyed target practice with his buddies at the shooting range and caring for his cows and tending to his farm.

Funeral Service: 11am, Wednesday, December 7, 2011 at Staab Funeral Home, with Pastor Greg White officiating. Burial will be in Oak Ridge Cemetery.

Jimmie B. "JB" Plunk, 76, of East Peoria passed away at 11:01 p.m. Sunday, March 20, 2011, at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria. He was born Jan. 18, 1935, in Henderson, Tenn., to Dossie B. and Minnie M. (Naylor) Plunk.

He married Veanes M. Cupples in Corinth, Miss., on Sept. 17, 1955. She survives. Also surviving are his mother of Henderson, Tenn.; two daughters, Vicki (Rocky) Holcomb of Morton and Kim (Ron) Watters of Creve Coeur; five grandchildren, Michael, Brian, Dustin, Denver and Kara; two stepgrandchildren, Shane and Candice; 18 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Emma Jean Blankenship.

He was preceded in death by his father and brother-in-law, J. E. Blankenship. JB worked at Caterpillar Inc. as a welder for 41 years before retiring. He loved the Lord, his family and fishing and will be dearly missed.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 24, 2011, at Remmert Funeral Home in East Peoria, with his grandson, the Rev. Brian Sanders officiating. Burial will be in Fondulac Cemetery in East Peoria.

L. Jean Ritthaler, 78, of Morton passed away at 11 p.m. Monday, Dec. 5, 2011, at Apostolic Christian Jean Restmor ritthaler in Morton. She died peacefully with her family thaler on Nov. 1, 1953, by her side. She was born Sept. 29, 1933, in Peoria to married Arthur L. Rit in Morton.

Surviving are her husband of Morton; two sons, Daniel Rit thaler of Germantown-thaler of Peoria and Darrell (Kim) Rit-Hills; two daughters, Deborah (Keith) Moser of Morton and 12 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; two half sisters, Gail Blankenship and Janet Shepler, both of Peoria; and one half brother, William Shepler of Peoria.

She was preceded in death by her parents. A homemaker, she worked as a sales representative for Mary Kay Cosmetics for many years. She was a member of Grace Church in Morton and its church choir. She also was a member of two vocal trio groups and served as past president of women's ministries at the church. She was a former member of the Morton Women's Club.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Grace Church in Morton, with the Rev. Tim Bertsche officiating. Burial will be in the Groveland Mennonite Church Cemetery.

Darrell E. Cope, 68, of Fairmount, passed away at 10:20 p.m. Friday, July 8, 2011, at Pleasant Meadows Christian Village, Chrisman. Darrell was born Nov. 26, 1942, in Vermilion Grove, to Elihu and Lois Stark Cope.

He married Mildred Shields on Dec. 23, 1963, in Georgetown. She survives. Also surviving are: two daughters, Kathy (Trever) Blankenship of Ridge Farm and Katrina Cope of Urbana; two sisters, Inez Wheeler of Attica, Ind., and Donna (Jerry) Cooper of Tilton; four grandchildren, Dustin (Ashley Hardesty) Blankenship of Tilton, Mariah Blankenship of Ridge Farm, Russell Cafin of Urbana and Kia Cafin of Urbana; great-granddaughter, Emma Blankenship of Tilton; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by: his parents; one son, Darrell Elihu Cope, II; four brothers, Allen, Danny, Dean, and Wayne Cope; and three sisters, Eva Hubbard, Doris Spires and Evelyn Gaylor. Darrell was a core setter at General Motors for 25 years, retiring in 1992. He was a farm hand who enjoyed mushrooming, fishing, woodworking and riding around looking for deer.

Funeral services at 1 p.m. Wednesday, July 13, 2011 at Robison Chapel in Catlin, with Pastor Scott McCurdy officiating. Burial will be in Davis Cemetery, west of Fairmount.

She is preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Tommy Tucker; two sisters, Lucille Clark and Betty Davis; and one son-in-law, David Reifsteck. Mrs. Blankenship worked at Scranton’s in Hoopeston for several years. She later worked at CVS in Hoopeston before retiring. Garnetta enjoyed cooking, gardening, sewing and quilting. She also enjoyed spending time with her family.

Services: 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 25, 2012, at Anderson Funeral Home in Hoopeston with the Pastor Micah Mobley officiating. Burial: Mann’s Chapel in Rossville.

Rock Falls – Macie "Sis" Thomas, 45, passed away Sunday, May 1, 2011, at her home, after a long battle with cancer. She was surrounded her loved ones. Sis was born Macie Ann Mae Mitchem on July 1, 1965, in Sterling, the daughter of Kenneth and Linda (Blankenship) Mitchem.

She married Michael Thomas on June 6, 2003, in Sterling. Sis was a volunteer for CASA and Riverdale School. She worked for Parent and Educator Partnership. She enjoyed scrapbooking, needlepoint and driving her Ford Mustang.

Surviving are her husband; one daughter, Audrey Crossland; two stepsons, Jason and Scott Thomas; one stepdaughter, Michelle Thomas; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; her parents, Linda (John) Cumand Kenneth (Helen) Mitchem; four sisters, Tammy (Mark) Naftzger, Pamela (Ed) Davis, Vickie (Denny) Huffman and Josie (Denny) Gaskill; two brothers, Steve and Pete Cumby; three nephews, Cody Mitchem and George and Eddy Davis; special cousins, Jeanie, Scott and Doug; and uncles and cousins.

She was preceded in death one grandson, Ryne Thomas; her maternal and paternal grandparents; and several uncles and aunts.

The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at McDonald Funeral Home, Rock Falls, with the Rev. Dalmus Meeks officiating. Burial will be at Oak Knoll Memorial Park, Sterling.

Ray Allen Creek, 93, of Clinton, formerly of Herrin, died at 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 22, 2010, in Manor Court of Clinton. Mr. Creek was a retired coal miner having last worked for Burning Star 5 Coal Mine at De Soto. Ray was baptized and confirmed into the Roman Catholic faith. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army during World War II, having been awarded the Purple Heart for wounds received in action Jan. 4, 1945, in the Rhineland, and the Bronze Star Medal.

He was born Jan. 7, 1917, in Metropolis, to Thomas Jefferson and Rhoda Jane (Blankenship) Creek. Ray was united in marriage with Claudine Adelia Lucini on Oct. 30, 1943, in the Rectory of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church in Herrin. She preceded him in death Sept. 22, 2007.

Surviving are daughter and son-in-law, Jayne and James Kilgarriff of Clinton; two sons and daughters-in-law, Michael and Patricia Creek of Quincy, Patrick and Peggy Creek of Herrin; two grandchildren, Joshua Creek and Jessica Creek, both of Herrin. He was preceded in death by his wife; parents; two brothers, TJ Creek, George Creek; and two sisters, Gladys Creek and Eloise Vale.

Memorial Mass will be 10 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 30, 2010, in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church in Herrin, with Monsignor Ken Schaefer officiating. Interment with military graveside rites conducted by the American Legion Post 645, Baker-Ladd VFW Post 1567 and the Illinois Army National Guard Honors Detail will be in San Carlo Cemetery in Herrin.

Delores Ann "Lois" Griffin, 68, of rural Pittsburg, passed away surrounded by her loving family at 2:20 p.m., on Monday, January 2, 2012, in Heart-land Regional Medical Center in Marion. She was born in Marion on Monday, December 27, 1943, the daughter of Ed Mitchell and Bertha (Nagel) Norman.

Delores attended school in Marion and was a graduate of Marion High School in 1961. She was united in marriage to James Russell Griffin in the Nazarene Church of Marion on January 10, 1964, and together they have shared nearly 48 years of marriage. Her working career, earlier in her lifetime, was with Norge, and also as an EMT for the Herrin Ambulance Service. She later worked for Norge as their EMT with Burns Security. As she got older, she decided to quit working and remained at home managing her home and seeing to the needs of her family. Her church membership was with Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church. Delores enjoyed cooking and sharing with friends and family in her home. Some of her specialties were old home style fried chicken, chicken and dumplings, porcupines, chocolate pie and divinity at Christmas time. She enjoyed her flower gardens and working in her yard. Delores was an exceptional, caring, loving friend to many. The many friends in the Paulton and Crab Orchard community were very important to Delores and Jim. She had a great sense of humor and wrote several funny poems about her views on life. Their home was a gathering place for family and friends during all the seasons.

Her greatest joy for the past seven years was being "Grammy" to her granddaughter Sara, after Delores and Jim lost their daughter, Allison Griffin Roman in 2004, to Cystic Fibrosis when Sara was only four.

She is survived by her husband, James R. Griffin of Pittsburg; son and daughter-in-law, James R. Griffin, Jr. and his wife, Renee of Carterville; granddaughter, Sara Ann Elizabeth Roman of Pittsburg; grandson, Corey Griffin of Thompsonville; granddaughter, Destiny Dalcher of Carterville, sister and brother-in-law, Roberta and Charles Blankenship of Marion; brother and sister-in-law, Floyd R. and Doris Norman of Granada Hills, Cal.; six nieces, Cynthia Plain and husband, Bob of Roanoke, Va., Kay Jones and her husband, Keith of Florence, Ala., Karla Burton and her husband, John of Marion, Kelly Sparks and her husband, Stanford of Marion, Stephanie Griffin of Marion, and Tia Norman Jones and her husband, Greg of Simi Valley, Cal.; three nephews, Kevin Lee of Marion, David Griffin of Marion, and Victor Norman and wife, Denise of Simi Valley, Cal.; six great nieces and great nephews, Shannon Sparks and Shawn Sparks both of Marion, Jason Parks and his wife, Kim of Herrin, Krystal Gage and her husband, Christopher of Herrin, Tyler Norman of Simi Valley, Cal., and Dalton Jones and Logan Jones both of Simi Valley, Cal.

She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Allison; brother-in-law, William Griffin; sister-in-law, Jan Griffin; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Ethel and Earl Griffin; sister-in-law, Helen Lee and niece, Karen Lee.

The funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 5, 2012, at Wilson-McReynolds Funeral Home with Rev. Jerry Schell presiding. Interment will follow in the Griffin Family Cemetery, located near Bell Smith Springs in Pope County.

Robert S. “Bob” Blankenship, age 85, of Marion, passed away at 8:30 p.m., Thursday, May 6, 2010, at the Veterans Administration Nursing Home in Marion. He was born, January 1, 1925, in Marion, the son of Earl and Helen (McKinney) Blankenship. He was united in marriage to Julia Faye Jenkins on June 10, 1944, at Franklin, Ky. and together they shared 62 years of marriage.

Bob answered the call of our nation by first serving in the United States Army Air Force and continued to serve in the United States Air Force until the time of his honorable discharge March 7, 1952.
He was former owner of Cox Tire and Battery for many years before his retirement.  Following his retirement he moved to California and returned to Marion in 2006. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Marion, a former member of the Marion Elks Lodge B.P.O.E. No. 800, Fellowship Masonic Lodge No. 89 A.F.&A.M. of Marion, he was a 32 Degree Mason and a member of the Scottish Rite Bodies of Southern Illinois, a member of the Ainad Shrine Temple of East St. Louis and a member of the Williamson County Shrine Club. For eight years he was Explorer Scout Troop leader and Bob enjoyed working with the youth and taking part in the many Scouting activates. Bob was a member of the Gold Prospectors Association of America and at one time was a working partner in a goldmine in California.      
He loved his family and many friends and will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his son, Michael Earl Blankenship of Carbondale; two daughters and sons-in-law, Jeri L. and Randy Palmer and Kris B. and D.C Jones all of Marion; grandson, Scott Blankenship and his wife, Martha of Cambria; six granddaughters, Cindy Coles of Carbondale, Melissa Estel and husband, Jason of Chester, Stacy Moore and husband, Barney of Johnston City, Jami Holsapple and husband, Bo of Marion, Kelly Zipsie and husband, Bruce of Kansas City, Mo., and Christy Hill and husband, DaKota of Marion; three step grandchildren, DeWayne M. Jones of Marion, DeEric S. Jones and wife, Janel of Austin, AR and DeLinda K. Whitehead and husband, Leo of Spillertown; 23 great-grandchildren; two brothers and sisters-in-law, William “Bill” and Sandra Blankenship and Charles and Roberta Blankenship all of Marion; sister-in-law, Dolly Blankenship of Marion; several nieces and nephews , other extended family members and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Julia Blankenship on February 12, 2006 and one brother, Earl Blankenship, Jr.  

Arrangements for Robert S. “Bob” Blankenship have been entrusted to Wilson-McReynolds Funeral Home, 900 N. Court Street, of Marion. A time of visitation for the family and friends will be on Wednesday, May 12, 2010, after 1 p.m., at the funeral home followed by a memorial service at 2 p.m. with Rev. Kevin McNeely presiding. Military honors will be accorded at the funeral home by members of the Heyde-Pillow V.F.W. Post 1301, American Legion Post 147 and members of the Illinois National Guard all of Marion.

Leavada Elliott, 87, died Friday, July 1, 2011, at her home in Marion surrounded by her family. She was born in Fanshawe Okla., to Shuey George and Goldie (Bost) Richards. She married Vernon Elliott on Jan. 29, 1940. She lived most of her life in Oklahoma. She moved to Illinois three years ago.

Survivors include three daughters, Anna Louise Bost of Wister Okla., Linda Sue Thompson of Marion and Lois June and husband, William Edward Blankenship, of Marion; one sister, Laberta Elliott of Wewoka Okla.; several grandchildren; great-grandchildren , great-great-grand children and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by three brothers, William Leroy, Garnet Dean and Floyd Eugene Richards; two sisters, Helen and Minnie Richards, two sons, Jimmy Dan and Bobby Ray Elliott; one grandson, Bobby Leroy Elliott and one great-grandson, Devan Michael Craig. Leavada was baptized March 22, 1992, in First Southern Baptist Church in Wister, Okla. She enjoyed fishing, taking care of her puppies, reading and drawing. She spent her life taking care of others.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, July, 7, in Wolf Cemetery in Seminole, Okla.

Vivian O'Neil, 86, of Marion and formerly of West Frankfort, passed away on Wednesday, January 4, 2012 at 1:30 a.m. at Heartland Regional Medical Center in Marion. Mrs. O'Neil was born June 18, 1925 in West Frankfort to Charles and Bertha (Taylor) Adkins.

She married Del-bert O'Neil in September 1942 and together they shared over 24 years of marriage until his death on June 15, 1967. She attended Arnold View Baptist Church and she had worked as a cook at nursing homes.

Survivors include two daughters, Colene Doss and husband Furnan "JR" of Crab Orchard and Darlene Cooper of Marion; six grandchildren, Mark Doss of Marion, Melinda Ingram and husband Greg of Altoona, Ia., Stephanie Reynolds and husband Brian of Crab Orchard Matthew Doss and wife Carmen of West Frankfort, Jennifer Blankenship and husband Shayne of Johnston City and Peggy Martin of Benton; 17 great grandchildren, Jonathan, Alijah, River, Camden, Nathan, Kevin, Jayda, Taylor, Dallas, Dovie, Zack, Amanda, Jordan, Samantha, Ashley, Collin and Peyton and two brothers, Virgil Adkins and wife Liz of Chicago and Jim Adkins and wife Kay of Chicago. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers Otis and Bill Adkins and sisters Clarasee Holman and Maxine Adkins.

Funeral services will be Saturday, January 7, 2012 at noon at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home with Rev. Ivan Ryan officiating. Burial will follow in Odd Fellows Cemetery.

Married Robert B. Blankenship on Nov. 23, 1939; he died Feb. 28, 2003. Employed by Phyllis Starr Fashions. She enjoyed golfing, bowling, knitting and gardening.

Joequavion Lamar Blankenship, 12, of Rockford departed this earthly life Sunday, Oct. 24, 2010, in Madison, Wis. He was born Oct. 9, 1998, in Rockford to Janiece Blankenship and Terry Johnson. He was a member of First Trinity Missionary Baptist Church, serving in the children's church, Sunday school, one of the lead dancers in the FT Spiritual Mime Ministry. Joequavion loved bugs and insects, singing, collecting Bakugan Battle Brawler and eating pancakes. He was a sixth grader at RESA.

 Joequavion leaves to cherish many memories, including his parents, Janiece Blankenship and Terry Johnson; special aunt and uncle, Joseph and Delores Herron; sisters, Janyah and Jakyah Blankenship; brothers, Javarus and Jaylex Blankenship; maternal grandmother, Janet Blankenship; god grandmother, Estelle Dowthard; maternal great-grandmother, Audrey Hildreth; aunts, Joevitta Blankenship, and Shenka Jenkins; uncle, James Blankenship; a host a great-aunts and uncles, other relatives and friends.

Clydie M. Tate, 86, of Eureka died at 7:27 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 31, 2011, at Washington Christian Village where she was a resident. She was born on Jan. 11, 1925, in Humbolt, Tenn. to James Clyde and Lillie E. Blankenship Elam.

She married James Tate on July 27, 1953, in Corinth, Miss. He died on March 2, 2004.

Surviving are two daughters, A. Collette Tibbs; Mary (Ronnie) Hasty both of Eureka; one son, Jim (Julie) Tibbs of Roanoke; five grandchildren; and 11 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one infant son, Eugene, one brother and one sister. During World War II Clydie was a "Rosie the Riveter" where she worked in the ship yards as a welder building battleships for the war. Clydie was a homemaker.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 5, 2012, at Argo-Ruestman-Harris Funeral Home in Eureka. Rev. Doug Hicks officiated. Burial was at Olio Township Cemetery.
